I love learning about new things. Aside from researching and reading about topics related to business, I also enjoy reading about, well, almost anything that I come across. This modern age of the internet has really put knowledge right at our fingertips. Do you have a question that has been nagging at you? Log on to the internet and find the answer. Are you curious about something? Whip out your phone or boot up your computer and search for it. I love it. Building up your knowledge has all the advantages without any of the disadvantages. There is absolutely no reason not to do it. The same can be said for your company.

The market is always changing and as such, your company needs to continually adapt. Sounds easier said than done – but it actually is simple. You just have to build a learning culture. How important is a learning culture? A study done by IBM shows that 84% of employees employed by top organisations receive all the training they need. Another study also shows that 94% of employees said that training and development is one of the reasons why they stay with an organisation. A company with a culture that is centred around learning is a company that is focused on growth. So, how do you promote a learning culture within your company?

Examine Your Current Learning Strategy

Providing training to your team members is standard and is expected if you are running a company. If you want to build a learning culture, you have to examine what type of training you are providing. What are they being taught? What type of training materials do they have access to? How much training are they getting? Check for any weakness in the current learning strategy. If need be, break it all down and rebuild it. Doing so allows you to build a strong foundation for a learning culture.

Lesser Focus On KPIs

A great way of encouraging your team to keep on learning is to lessen your focus on KPIs. While it is important, more emphasis should be put on acquiring new knowledge and skills. This encourages them to explore new ideas and to try them out without fear of affecting their status in the company. It drives the idea that learning and experimenting are expected of them and they should not shy away from it. This is one way of tapping into their inner genius. And your company is going to benefit from it.
