I already talked about this in the previous article but I feel that there is just so much more to talk about. So here it is. A follow up to the last article so you will be more properly prepared for this year.

With the new year comes new year resolutions. Everyone has one or two resolutions that they promise to stick to but quickly fades away or are completely forgotten as the weeks go by. Why does this happen? It really is about the excitement and the energy that a brand new year brings. As the new year starts, we feel that anything is possible and it is as long as you are willing to put in the work. The problem with new year resolutions is that they are not really goals. Goals have plans backing them up. Resolutions are at most wishful thinking. Start the year strong by having goals instead of resolutions.

Having goals for the next 12 months is just one way of starting the year strong. As was mentioned before, anything is possible as long as you are willing to put the work in. The question is, what are the other ways you can do to make sure that you start the year strong? What can you do to take advantage of the energy and excitement that the new year brings? What are the steps you can take to ensure that you and your business start the brand new year in top form?

Try Something New

Keep the energy and excitement alive by trying something new for your company. Think of the things that you’ve always wanted to do for your business but have always been too busy or afraid to try them out. I’m pretty sure you’ll come up with a very long list. Now, narrow them down to 3 to 5 and go for them. Yes, it can be scary venturing out to the unknown but it’s exciting at the same time. The best thing about this is that you can do the same for your personal life. Think of the things you’ve always wanted to do for yourself and just go for it.

Don’t Forget The Past

Winston Churchill once wrote, “Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” What were the big moves you did last year that didn’t turn out so well? What went wrong? What were the factors that contributed to the failure? You failed. Now it’s time to get up and try again. The new year not only brings excitement but hope. Take that feeling of hope and give it another shot. Re-examine and re-assess your plans. Talk with your team so you can get a fresh new perspective. Make the move again and you’ll see better results.
