Welcome to another opportunity to get your week underway and really get you moving in the right direction with the right intensity. I want to talk to you a little bit about PERSISTENCE – it’s an interesting word.

I was caught up with a friend of mine last week and he shared with me this amazing quote which I’m going to share with you later.

Last week was also a practice in persistence for myself. I just finished the grueling Big Red Run – Australia’s first and only 250KM multi-day race. You read that right – 250KM. Who would be crazy to go through that? And how do you get through that? Three words – PERSISTENCE, WILL and CONSISTENCY.

It is really an interesting word – thinking of what it actually is. What is persistence for you?

What is persistence?

We might be talented, we might be gifted, we might be educated – but when it comes to actually moving forward in the right direction and achieving those goals and achieving those success, this really underpins so much. Success comes with hard work – a lot of hard work.

Now, I’m not saying that unsuccessful people are those who are not willing to put an effort into doing something worthwhile. In fact I would say that almost all of us, myself included, start a project with fire in our belly. We are eager to get going but we frequently envision our goal to be waiting for us at the end of a short, uneventful journey. With each hurdle we face, the fire cools down just a little bit, until it completely dies out.

Often I see people, they’re out there, they are doing the work but at that last little bit – it’s that last little bit whether they may have a challenge or something’s come up or roadblock, they give up. It’s getting through, actually getting through, and persisting time and time again that’s really going to get you on the other side.

This quote is from Calvin Coolidge. Calvin used to be politician and he was actually the 30th President of the United States.

And he shared this little quote which I actually come to love:

So there we go.

What is persistence to you? I’d love to hear and find out your thoughts.
Persistence is something that’s going to take to you from good to great and help you achieve your goals and your dreams.
