Facing Adversity: Your Road to Success

By Attitude, Blogpost, challenges, Goals, mindset, Success

You may or you may not know, I recently just we went over to New Zealand, Rotorua and completed another Ultramarathon. It was a grueling 102 kilometre run to Rotorua, which is to the north island of New Zealand.

I’ve done couple of races like this in the past, but this one was absolutely spectacular. And there are different number of elements why the race was so spectacular: It was the inclination, it was the declination, it was the terrain, it was the scenery. There are a lot of amazing lessons I took personally from that race.

Lessons from the BIG RACE

The first lesson was, obviously, how to breakdown a biggie goal. 102 kilometres, right? Huge!

Another element is that, reverse engineering that into one aid station, to the next aid station, checkpoint, checkpoint and checkpoint. It’s a bit like a goal, right? You got a big audacious goal, reverse engineer it down and go through each station as you go.

Another lesson that I took away from doing the Ultramarathon is, what happens when things don’t go your way?

So, what happens at 30km in? Achilles blew out. Hip blew out. I was in a world of pain. So, I had a couple of options: I could push on or I could pull out.

And so, I thought – “I’ve done all the training. I’ve come this far, I’m not gonna be pulling out at 30km.” So, I sucked it up and just kept on going. And obviously, with a bit of help, I got through each aid station.

It’s a really good analogy of – what happens when you’re facing adversity? What happens when you face a challenge? Do you go, “Ah, I’ve check out. I’m out!” Or do you actually push through?

Because mostly what happens when you push through the other side, that’s where the goal is guys. That’s where true success is. It’s getting through each ceiling. Getting through that next level.

So, you may be having troubles with your team. You may be having troubles with sales. You may be having troubles in any business. But the element of pushing through, that comes from having that support crew around you. It comes from having that team around you. Knowing what resources you’ve got – your backpack on your back, your water and everything like that to get you through to the next checkpoint.

How about you? How do you face your own adversities in your personal and work life? Sometimes, it helps to know that you have reliable people around you. Surround yourself with the right support group and you will definitely overcome any challenges that comes your way.

Outsourcing: Stories and Lessons Learned

By outsourcing, management, opportunities, Success, Time Management, Work Life Balance

You’ve probably heard your colleagues and friends talk about outsourcing. So what is it? And what is the power of outsourcing.

Challenges in Outsourcing

I’ve been outsourcing now for close to 10 years now, and it’s pretty powerful. I personally have a team of 10 and our other business, Support Zebra Australia, has a staff of close to 300. Outsourcing has also really helped out our own personal clients leverage their time.

I want to share with you some of the stories.

It never used to be that way, never used to be with all these team members behind us. We’ve got the scars, we’ve had the opportunity where we’ve taken on staff before – overseas – and then just the overseas staff just went missing in action.

We’ve gone through the journey of, you know, of trying to recruit, trying to train, trying to maintain and the wheels have fallen off.

But, why do we outsource? What’s the power of outsource?

How do you Outsource?

Basically if you want to increase your productivity, if you want to increase your own time – personal time off – if you want to save money or you want to make more money, outsourcing is an amazing way to do it.

Now, what happens is that, if you’re wondering where do I start? Where do I go?

Well, you know the good thing is that I’ve put together these amazing webinars to help you answer these questions. You can check out my website or chat with me directly – and yeah, let’s talk and discover how to solve these challenges together.

You can also register to my 7 STEPS TO OUTSOURCING and learn how to scale, profit and leverage your team through outsourcing.

The benefit of outsourcing is really – if you’ve got things that are ongoing, mundane recurring tasks that you go – you know what? Someone else should really be doing this.

If you’ve got tasks that, if you’re looking at your hourly rate, and you know – you know what, someone else should be doing this. Or if you need to be focusing elsewhere in your business, and you know that this part of the business needs to get done by someone else – this is a perfect opportunity to learn how to outsource.

How to really get the most out of your team? How to really drive that productivity so you can really be focusing on what you do best?

Benefits of Outsourcing

I’ve got a number of clients that go through this process and what they’ve realized is that they’ve got back to client-facing activity, rather than getting stuck into the mundane of emails, admin and that kind of stuff.

These clients actually gone back to meeting with their clients. They’ve gone back with meeting new prospects and opportunities. They now have gone back into face-to-face, telephone work, so they can build those relationships and have someone do behind the scenes.

So if you want to come along, check out this upcoming webinar. Just type in outsource below and I will give you the details. Love for you to come along.

Learn something, learn what we’re up to, learn on how we can assist you to outsource so we can help you really grow your business.

The Value of Teamwork

By Blogpost, excellence, Goals, inspirations, management, opportunities, Success

How has your 2018 been? And what has been some of your wins and some of your lessons throughout the first week of the 2019? I’d love to hear from you. What have been some of your wins? What have been some of your lessons?

This is a great opportunity as we welcome another year – having a review of the week, the month, the quarter, the year of what’s been some of your wins and some of your lessons.

I was in the Philippines last December where I spent four, five days with the whole team over there, just to really start to map out the year. It was an honor and a privilege. I also took my daughter and introduced her to the team. And I think, I found my succession plan.

She had the opportunity to present in front of our team and really embracing it. Also, the shopping – she loves the shopping over there. Oh my goodness! Next level.

But it was a good opportunity to spend some quality time with her, just a daddy-daughter time. And really honored – it’s a privileged to have that opportunity.

The Power of Team

One of the things, and biggest lessons that we learned was the power of team – and power of enrolling the team.

We arrived – the team have already started their strategy session on a Saturday, we arrived Saturday night. And we got into the team meeting on a Sunday. And I walked into the room and they said, “Just to let you know, we’ve already mapped out the next six months for you.”

I was like, “Alright!? Cool.” And what the most amazing thing was, when we reviewed what they had gone through the day before – I had done some previous planning up until, for this time together. It was exactly the same as I had mapped out – they didn’t know this that I had mapped out previously on what they had mapped out the day before.

And so, that was the biggest lesson for me is – Wow! We’ve got an amazing team. So aligned and so on the same page where they’ve been working on the sideline and I’ve been, you know, getting some planning down – coming together and we’re all on the same page.

Once again huge win and huge lesson. So, what are some of your wins? What are some of your lessons?

Hopefully you got to take some time out over the holidays and just had fun, spent quality time with love ones, spent some time with friends and family – and reflected on 2018. And now, start thinking about what 2019 looks like.

So, there we go! Let’s all make 2019 bigger, better and brighter.

Lessons for the Year: What’s Worked for 2018

By Blogpost, Goals, mindset, opportunities, Success

It’s another opportunity to review the week, and probably review the whole year.

What has been some of your wins and some of your lessons throughout this week? It’s a good time to just stop and reflect to say, “Hey! You have gone throughout the week.”

What are you most proud of? What have been some of the things that you’ve hanged out high and say, “Wow! That’s been a good week.”

What’s been some of the lessons that you can take away and go, “You know what? This is what I learned. This is an Aha moment.” Or “this is what I need to be doing differently next week.”

So, it’s an opportunity to really – as we come through this next little time, to sprint towards the end. And also to reflect on how the year has gone for you.

What has been some of the wins and the setbacks? Some of the lessons and what do we maybe doing differently for 2019.

I’d love to hear from you. What has been some of your wins? What are you most proud of this week? And what have been some of the lessons?

Wins for 2018

We had a great opportunity this week to present to a lot of different organizations.

We’re at the McGrath St. George during their monthly conference. We talked about their genius and we talked about their superpowers. We also talked about how to tap into their genius and how to really start to map-out 2019.

We were also at Tyler Nicholas where we talked about, obviously, how to build your teams. And also communication, which is a really important factor throughout this market where we are at the business world today.

I also had the opportunity, which is pretty cool, to be at the opening of a new sports store called Decathlon. It is a new huge sports store in Auburn. Being in the trail running ambassador, I was fortunate enough to be there.

What Have We Learned?

When I look back over this week, particularly the two presentations that I delivered with the two companies, is we went through the four review questions.

And those review questions is a great way to just to take stock and do this on a weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually process.

Let’s review the four questions once again:

  1. What’s worked for me this week?
    • What’s been some of the wins?
    • What’s been some of the things that I’m most proud of?
    • What’s really worked?
  2. What didn’t work? What’s been some of the setbacks and some of the challenges?
  3. What are some of my lessons? What are the Aha moments that I learned this week or this month, or whatever time period that you are reviewing?
  4. What do I need to be doing differently?

This is a perfect segway into 2019. When we can take and review your whole year and look at – “Okay, what are some of the things that really worked for me this year?”

What Will Be Different in 2019?

When you look at the different areas of your business, look at the different areas of your life both personally and professionally.

What are the things that didn’t work? What are the setbacks and challenges? What were the key lessons that we took away from work and also on the personal front.

And moving into 2019, how’s it going to be different? What are you going to do different? How’s it going to measure up compared to 2018?

So, it’s a great opportunity to really review. It’s an opportunity to review the year. We deep dive a little bit more in the year and we look at the different quarters. We also need to look at the different areas of your business and personally.

And we start to do the high-level planning for 2019. So you can break and you can free your mind, and really relax and restore, rejuvenate over the Christmas period.

So, there we go – Finish it Fridays, an opportunity to review the week – and the year.

An opportunity to think. What are some of your wins? What are some of your lessons throughout this week?

Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Have a wonderful holiday.

How to Attract a Winning Team

By excellence, Goals, management, Success

There are three (3) points I want to share with you today on how to attract a winning team.

I’ve just started a 15-point checklist recently on how to attract the winning a team – and these are the three (3) points from that checklist.

However, what I’ve noticed before we get into those three (3) points is, so often we have a clear marketing plan or growth plan to attract new clients.

But what’s your plan to attract that winning team? What’s your plan to attract the right type of people into your organization or into your business?

It takes time, it takes focus and it takes a proper plan to really create that process to make you an attraction-based business.

When we get these stuff right, what happens is that you’ll have people inquire: do you have any roles? Do you have any job openings?

And this process take the pressure out of, you know, if someone decides to leave, or you’re growing and you need someone quickly. It takes that pressure of actually trying to find someone.

Recognize Your Team’s Efforts Publicly

The first one is to publicly recognize your team. This could be a personal achievement they’ve had, a win at work, whatever it is.

Recognize your team members, your current team members, for the amazing work but also recognize them on a public forum: if it’s social media, if it’s an announcement to your database, whatever it is.

That works on two (2) fronts: one, it’s a social proof that you recognize your team members and it’s actually getting the message out there to the wider audience.

But more importantly, is to recognize your current team members of their hard work, dedication and their results.

Share Team Events

Point number two is that, actually share your team events. Now, team events is a great way to build and have a great bond within your organization, within your company.

It’s great to really solidify the relationships and really harness the relationships that have already happening within your organization.

But when you share that with the wider world, what that enables you to do is to make a statement to the world – “This is how we recognize the team. This is how we give back to the team. Look at the fun we are having within our organization.

And what that enables you to do is to share your message out there to the wider audience.

Conduct Business Awards

Lastly, business awards.

Now, sometimes people go – “Ah, you know, it’s this and that” – but you know what, business awards work. Based on the marketing side of attraction of new clients but also for the attraction of new team members.

Because there’s usually components in those business awards that you have to talk about your team, your success, your journey, your vision. And that, you can then communicate that to the world.

People like to be part of something that means something. Therefore, if you become a finalist, or if you win business awards – people like to be attracted to that as well.

So there are three (3) key points for today are:

  1. Recognize your current publicly.
  2. Share your team events to the wider world.
  3. Get in, and apply for your business awards.

So there you go! Post your comments and looking forward to hearing from you soon.

How To Make A Championship Team

By Goals, Entrepreneurship, management, Success

In the last couple of weeks, I’ve been fortunate enough to do some amazing interviews in our podcast. And with those interviews, what we do is we talk about teams and we talk about what makes up a championship team.

There are a number of things when it comes to really leading and building these championship teams. And from the feedback that we’re getting, LEADERSHIP always came out on top as one of the major components of what makes a championship team.

Are You Afraid to Fail?

By Blogpost, mindset, Success

Are you afraid to fail? Most of us are, and it’s an almost inevitable part of life (unless you simply give up before you even try).

You’ve probably failed a few times, or many times. Good for you! Seriously! Whether your failures were personal or professional, they are extremely valuable lessons.

Nobody likes to be told they are a failure (or to feel like one, in spite of what others say). It’s hard to accept, and it can damage your self-esteem. But what if you can move past the unpleasantness of the failure, learn from it, and reach higher? That’s when the magic happens!

The ONLY failure is quitting. That’s it. The only one. Everything else is a real blessing (in disguise).

Let’s take the letters in the word FAILURE and create some personal alchemy. Let’s turn them into gold:

FORGET: don’t constantly wish you could have a do-over. You can’t. Forget what didn’t work out, except for one thing: what did you learn from the failure? What can you take with you?

ACCEPT: Accept that failures are important, and accept your role in the failure. Everything you do is a choice (from deciding which shirt to wear to what to say to the person next to you on the bus, to choosing to do (or not do) a training run at night after work just because you need to get your training in…).

INVESTIGATE: What specific decisions (steps) did you make that resulted in that outcome? What could you have done differently, and how would you do it better next time?

LOOK: There are always answers and solutions waiting for you, either in your environment (be very alert and aware), in your mind (listen to your intuition and be creative) and in the people around you. Alternatives are about. Look for them, and be open to trying a new way.

UNDERSTAND: Failures are a part of life. You ARE not a failure just because you have failed. You did something, or didn’t do something, but you are not your actions. You performed those actions. YOU are not a failure. Your methodology was a bust, but you learned from it. Right?

RE-EVALUATE: Re-evaluate how you go about achieving goals. Remember this very wise phrase: “As I am with one thing, I am with everything.” Take note of your HABITS – specifically the habits you may have (like procrastination) that hold you back. Change those habits. Create positive, proactive habits and make a plan of action.

EXPECT: Visualize yourself achieving your goal. Stick to your plan, and work it all the way to completion. Do not let fear and doubt stop you. EXPECT to succeed, knowing that every failure brings you one step (or a hundred steps) closer to your goal.

How to Increase Your Chances of Success

By Attitude, Blogpost, Success

“Do, or do not. There is no try.” ~ Yoda, from Star Wars

That quote sums up the most important element of success: your wholehearted commitment.

Let’s say you have a really awesome goal. It’s a bit much for you to wrap your head around because it’s so big. You have written your goal down and created a plan. But you have doubts, and so when someone asks you about it, you say, “I’ll try.”

And that’s not going to get you there. If you “try,” no matter what you’re going for, you are setting yourself up for quitting. “I’ll try” means that the moment there’s a problem, you have already given yourself permission to quit.

The language you use is more important than you think when it comes to your success!

Okay. So you won’t say, “I’ll try” anymore. But what about the rest of your self-talk when you’re thinking about your goals?

Do you ever say, “I’ll do my best but…” or “It will work out the way it will work out.”

Those are kind of self-defeating too, aren’t they?

The point is, stop giving away your power to external forces. You are more capable than you think!

I challenge you to start using the words “I am” in a positive way. No more “I am not sure… I’m trying… I’m hoping… I am tired of… I am sick and tired of…” You see, you are basically embodying what you are saying! If you say “I’m trying” then you ‘become’ a half-hearted effort; you ‘become’ a half-finished job. So no more of that.

If you look at your goal and it’s freaking you out because it’s so huge, then break it down! You may be afraid of a huge step (so you’ll try) but if you break it down into the smallest action components, you will most definitely be able to achieve that step. And then take the next step, and the next, all the while saying to yourself, “I am moving in the right direction.” It doesn’t matter how fast or how slowly. Progress often happens in fits and spurts anyway. You’ll have periods of amazing productivity and progress and times when you feel like you’re spinning your wheels in place. Not to worry. Just keep going.

Make your success inevitable, by taking Yoda’s words to heart. Don’t try. Just do.

Earning Money is EASY

By Blogpost, mindset, Success

I’m sure this title has you raising an eyebrow and thinking I’m delusional. I know that when I first came across this information, I was skeptical as well. Now I know that it is the absolute truth, and I want to share this timeless wisdom with you, for your personal and business success.

How much money you make has nothing to do with the obvious: the economy, your location, level of education, expertise in a certain industry, family money, who you know, experience, or even intellect.

It’s true! Look at all of the brilliant minds out there who are flat broke, and the people who can’t string two words together who are multi-millionaires. It doesn’t seem fair, does it?

The secret is in your mind.

Money is nothing more than a means of exchange. You give me money, I give you a service. I give you money, you give me a product. Money is also not “real” in that it is only an idea. Long ago, somebody decided to give someone a bunch of shiny metal instead of a herd of goats, and the concept of money was born.

And yet, many of us are intensely uncomfortable with the concept of money. We feel unworthy of having it. This is called poverty consciousness. When you’re stifled by poverty consciousness, you think in terms of lack. In terms of not having enough. “I can’t afford that; how am I going to take care of payroll this month; there’s never enough… etc.”

Mike Todd said, “Being broke is a temporary situation. Being poor is a mental state.”

It’s so easy to look at “what is” and believe in scarcity, isn’t it? After all, there isn’t an infinity symbol anywhere in your bank account! If you look back at your results and your financial health, you’ll see distinct patterns. Anytime you were happy and felt on top of the world, your financial situation was better. Anytime you were down and felt hopeless, your financial situation was worse. And the key is, your financial situation was a result of your mental state, not the other way around.

The secret to having a wealth consciousness is to choose happiness – being happy with what is, just for the sake of being happy. Happiness = wealth consciousness and abundance consciousness. Remember that. When you’re happy, you are able to focus on what is good in life. You start noticing things like opportunities (and when you’re happy, you’re more inclined to take advantage of them); people who can help you; and situations that increase your wealth.

Of course you still have to earn the money, it’s not just going to fall from the sky. So think of it this way: the money you receive is an effect. You are the cause: what can you offer in order to receive that money? What talents do you have to share? What services or products can you offer to improve peoples’ lives?

You might not realise this, but happiness and service go hand-in-hand. It simply feels awesome to help out other people, and in so doing, you will be rewarded.

Take away the focus on the dollar amounts you want. Instead, shift your focus to what you can offer – your value – and give it, with 100% best effort. Then, because you’re doing something positive and you’re happy, the right circumstances will come into play in your life and your mindset will shift and you’ll find it easier and easier to make money.

What’s Next?

By Blogpost, Success

We hear this all the time: TAKE ACTION! Massive action! Just do it! Get up off your bum and get to work!

Great stuff. IF you know what to do…

Your next action needs to be physical and visible.

Physical, as in open your laptop and send some emails. Visible, as in “in your face” staring at you until they’re done (have you ever noticed what an energy drain it is to have unfinished business looming over you?).

A physical and visible list gets down to the nuts and bolts of getting things done. If your list looks like:

1. Get 20 new clients this week
2. Get a loan for the new computer system
3. Write five blogs

You can see that this list is not physical: “what do I do?” (except for #3). It’s not visible: you have no clear direction or actions to take. Sure, getting 20 new clients is awesome but how? Can’t pull them out of thin air… These are not “to do” items at all. How can you “do” something you aren’t even clear on? They are vague and too much is left to chance. Even #3 is a bit vague. When

A better list, a physical and visible list, would read like this:

1. Compose four autoresponder emails highlighting key aspects of my business.
2. Write up a comprehensive business plan and make 5 bank appointments.
3. Write a 1,000 word blog on M,T,W,Th and F. Publish them on the website the following Monday.

Don’t dismiss the “trivial” activities that you might neglect to put on your list. These small actions are the ones that add up, cumulatively rocketing you toward your goals. Even things like maintaining your office’s professional appearance and catching up on filing, are tasks that are physical, visible and ultimately important.

We humans are visual creatures. If you can see it and touch it, it feels real. Make your to-do list real and you’ll be more inclined – and able – to get it all done!
